Position Description:   Geospatial Engineer

Required Clearance:   Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Supports U.S. Southern Command’s (SOUTHCOM) JIOC-S capability by performing daily administration of Oracle-based geospatial databases (Spatial Data Engine) and geospatial interfaces for intelligence analysis. Tests, applies, and configures geospatial tools to maximize analysts’ efficiency.  Must be very familiar with ESRI’s geospatial visualization and imagery analysis tools (ArcGIS, ArcIMS, ArcSDE, etc).  Must have a strong understanding of the exploitation of geospatial data by the use of high-end computer workstations and software to manipulate the data to render spatially co-referenced information about the earth, with temporal tags (metadata), arranged in a coherent structure and format to support military operations, measurement, mapping, visualization, modeling, spatial reasoning, and terrain analysis. As a Geospatial Engineer candidate  will be required to interface with geospatial analysts in order to collect and process military geographic information from decentralized sources (remote sensed imagery, digital data, intelligence data, existing topographic products, and other collateral data sources), and present this information to senior leaders, to facilitate in the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP).

Desired Skills: Working knowledge of GIS and associated applications and data sets (i.e. ArcView, ArcGIS, Imagine, Geoworx, ERDAS, Google Earth, and SocketSet). Comfortable with systems and multiple Operating Systems (i.e. RedHat RHEL 4.7, Windows 2003 Server) Works directly with customers and team members to determine project scope and specifications.
